My name is
Tyler Coppersmith. I started racing in
2003 in the 65cc class. I was in an
accident on July 11, 2004 and broke both
of my femurs. I was not able to ride for
6 months. Since I have started back
racing I have broken my arm twice and
had multiple bumps and bruises. Every
time I was
more determined to become a better
rider. I have watched a lot of
motocross videos and have been able to
use a lot of the techniques in
developing my own style of riding.
I have attended Jim Neese Riding
Development classes in the past.
Presently my trainer is Jeff Day with
Jeff Day Motocross Sports. He and I
train 4 days a week. We also go to the
gym every morning to work on cardio and
strength training. I have a motocross
track in my yard that my dad, my trainer
and I maintain. There are not any
riders that live close by or any tracks
near my house. I have some friends that
come and ride
with me occasionally.
This year was my first year trying to
qualify for Loretta Lynn’s. I went to
several area and 2 regional qualifiers.
My family and I have to travel at least
4 hours for the closest race. We do get
to see a lot of scenery. Because of some
bad luck I did not qualify to go to
Loretta’s this year. My plan for the
rest of the year is to run the Victory
Sports Ultra Series, go to Branson
Missouri, and to
the Mini O’s. My family is making
arrangement s
for me to race the Winter AM Series in
Florida. My mom
will go to
Fla.
with me and my dad will come down on the
weekends. My mom home school’s me so
that I can have more time to commit to
my training. I made A’s and B’s on my
end of grade testing. I pretty much
live and breathe MX. If I am not
riding, I am watching someone else ride
or chatting with my fellow riders on MY
SPACE.
My mom and dad go to all the races with
me. At the race my dad is my mechanic,
my trainer and my biggest supporter. He
is very proud of me as long as I give
100%. My mom says she don’t care what
position I finish in as long as I finish
and am safe.
When school is in, my brother does not
get to go to all
the races. He is always supporting me
whether he is at the race or not.
As you can see from my pictures I ride
Honda.
In
August of this year I got a 125 and am now
off of the 85's. Riding a 125 in the
schoolboy class and a 250 in the 125C
and unlimited amateur class has been
fun, I really like the bigger bikes.
With my family's support and any support
I can receive from other sponsors, I
plan to follow my dream to become a
professional motocross rider. I am
willing to do whatever it takes to get
there and will proudly support all my
sponsors
along the way.
Thank you, J. Tyler
